I believe (although I just received it recently) that it will hold a lot of replay value for me and allow me to hone my tactics for a time when I upgrade computers to a point I can play the real thing, a lot more in depth on my dream game Empire-Total War. The gameplay overall takes on a simplistic form in my opinion which lowers the learning curve but doesn't hold the bar high for extremely in depth gaming experience. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5 because of a it has a few lack luster qualities, a couple of them being it is considered a cheaper knock off of Empire-Total War. The turn based campaign is nice because you aren't rushed to micromanage a million things at once but takes forever in the beginning because of all the individual countries taking their turns managing some of the 60 territories the game has to offer. I might have wanted to play as another country-empire but all others remain neutral and conquerable. ![]() I was saddened by the lack of a complete world map or something a little larger than europe and the fact in campaign I couldn't play as anything other than the 5 empires British, French, Austrian, Russian and Prussian. Even on the lowest graphic settings the environment, great and the lovely state of the models take nothing away from the overall gameplay. The unit models are very nice looking, especially on the ships when commanding a naval engagement. Overall the game is looking good, I love the RISK like simplicity of the campaign map and the dramatic entrance to each battle that gives you a feeling of "the calm before the battle". It comes complete with skirmish battles, Historical battles and Campaign where you strive for empire points over a specific time or total Europe and Western russian domination. I decided to buy this game after research of its modest computing requirements and because other reviews linked it to another game Empire-Total War which my computer outright laughed at the fact I put it in and tried to install it. There is also the option to play one of the four historical battles of the era as a brief real-time scenario.Imperial Glory is a historically based strategy game, set in and around Europe during the early 1800s, which features both real-time, 3D battlefield warfare and a more strategically minded, turn-based "Imperial" mode - not unlike the games of Creative Assembly's Total War series. The second, Total Victory, is much simpler, as the player must conquer Europe, the Middle East and North Africa to win. The first, Victory by Points, requires the player to earn more points than any of his opponents to win, collecting them through military operations, economic successes and diplomatic achievements. The game has two main gameplay options, each with its own set of specific objectives. You can also establish trade routes with other countries, which will provide you with the finances needed to form a wealthy commercial entity or establish a militaristic empire. ![]() This applies equally to naval combat.ĭiplomacy is also a key aspect, allowing you to establish defensive treaties with other countries, form a coalition against an unfriendly nation, and improve foreign relations, among other options. Most of the game takes place on a large turn-based world map, with the task of guiding your empire through resource management and military preparedness, similar to a more complex variant of Risk. ![]() ![]() Imperial Glory is a hybrid strategy game set in the era of the Napoleonic Wars, in which you play as any of the five empires of that era, namely France, England, Russia, Austria and Prussia.
